Reconfigured outdoor Farmers Market Saturdays at the Agi Hall
The Gabriola Agricultural Co-op is inviting local residents to our extra safe, outdoor Farmers Market, Saturdays 10a.m. – 2p.m. at the Agi Hall!
We are very excited to be able to move forward with a market in this challenging time. We are also incredibly grateful to the farmers and food producers in our community. Despite the added challenges of COVID-19, we will have locally grown and produced food to enjoy once again this season.
While this year’s market features the same wonderful produce, baked goods, eggs, and other delicious local food products we’re used to, it will look and be different in some important ways. The coronavirus pandemic has made it clear that safety is paramount so the co-op has modified the market to ensure social distancing and other key public health safety protocols are in place.
We emphasize that personal safety and food security go hand in hand. If we want local food security, we need to support our farmers and food producers at the market. To do that, we need to know we can come to market, say hello to friends and neighbours, and shop for healthy, seasonal food – all with confidence that we are keeping ourselves and our community safe.
Here’s what we’re doing to ensure everyone is safe at the market:
social distancing – 6 feet of space between everyone at the market at all times,
– market will be food only until June 13, 2020.
– shoppers standing in line or shopping will be 6′ apart
– signage will be in place to direct shoppers to the entrance and exit.
hand washing/sanitizing – stations will be in place throughout the market
no dogs will be permitted at the market
cash, debit and credit cards will be accepted.
No Entry before 10 am
We have an opportunity in this time to envision what resilience could look like, and explore what we are capable of creating as a community. Will we take the opportunity we are offered in the COVID-19 crisis to come out and strongly support our food producers as a critical step towards creating local food security.
We hope you will come out and buy from our farmers, bakers and food producers throughout the market season. Or, if you prefer, you can shop our online market which includes our wonderful artisans and crafters. Set up your account now at www.localline.ca/gabriolafarmersmarket.
